Question Basics on timing a cam?

ive owned quite a few mustangs but just recently purchased a 90 lx origionally 4cyl but was swapped for a 91 mustang 302 engine. The engine has a E303 cam. Im wanting someone to give me the basics of timing a high performance cam, starting from timing chain installation to timing with a timing light. I have no prob working and timing on a stock engine but when it comes to high performance cam and valve overlap im in the dark on. Heres what ive got engine wise. Edelbrock intake, holley 750, msd 6al box with 5500 chip, msd distributor, with full exhaust, The heads are stock 91 heads and the engine sports a e303, i bought the car put together as is, im just wanting a better idea of the timing. The e303 cam runs well on the stock valve spings as long as you rev no higher than 5500. Im going to be changing the heads to gt40 turbo swirls so im wanting to also go through and change cam bearings while i have it tore down.

Buy an engine building book that covers degreeing the cam also. It will become your best friend during your build. It would just take me to long to go through the process
