Default Intake manifold... Paint or Powder coat???

So im replacing my professional products typhoon intake, with a professional products typhoon intake.

im tired of chrome/polished aluminum. I want to "black out" the engine bay.

Found a Satin typoon intake on craigslist for $250, brand new, still in it's wraper in it's box.
(i can sell my polished typoon for that, or more easy)

this is what my engine bay look's like
(now has mark8 fan)

tired of cleaning that crap as this is my DD now.

here is the typhoon i picked up

you get the point.........

I want it black, I know a guy that own's a powder coating buisness, say's he can do it flat black for $140.

Im wondering if i can paint this myself with a couple can's of high temp BBQ paint and save me about $120!

what are your opinion's?

id be real pissed if i painted it and the paint started flaking and ****, i dont have any experence painting, but i dont really like the idea of spending $140 just to make this "budget" intake look good.

I'd go with the powder coating If I were you. paint chips/cracks alot easier than powder coating.

If you prime it. Paint it and give it a satin or flat clear coat it will be there for years. Just give it plenty of coats.

I just got my setup powder coated.....

Accessory brackets, water pump, belt tensioner and thermostat housing powder coated chrome

Intake manifold, timing cover and valve covers powder coated gloss black. Took a sander over the raised "5.0 cobra" on my intake, and the edelbrock on my VCs for a chrome look.

Ill get pics up... looks great.

he did it all for me for 120$... AND he cleaned it up... i brought it to him straight off the car too [=
