Default Me vs. my buddy...question

Today my buddy and I were havin a little fun on the highway and decided to run 1 time for fun. Question though. He has a STOCK '02 GT accept for weld in flowmasters. Now I have a '90 LX with the following mods: 306, longtubes, o/r h, slp lm1, pullies, cai, explorer heads/intake, e-303 cam, 3.73's, sub-frames, springs, and both cars are 5-speeds. We went from a 3rd gear pull through 4th and were neck and neck the whole way. Does this sound right? I'm just asking because I was thkning I was quicker but maybe those new edges are faster than I thought. And we are both "good" drivers(in my opinion lol).

Thanks for any input

Well put it this way, 99-04 GTs dyno at around 230 rwhp, I dynoed today at 240 rwhp with similar mods than you, however no cam but better h/i, so that sounds about right depending on how good/bad your a/f ratios are. My car is running really rich killing some of my potential power, 99-04s also run a little on the rich side factory, but still not nearly as bad as 05+ which can run as bad a 9s on their a/f where a good number is high 12s low 13s, I pulled around low 11s today (higher the number the leaner the mixture).

In short, yes it's probably about right, you have the edge though, however, a lot of other variables go into the equation as well, but generally it's going to be a closeish race at this point.

You should have easily won. Something is amiss.

did you get your car tuned after your head/cam/intake swap? Also try racing from a dig, chances are you'll pull him off the line and he won't be able to catch up.

Also, have you ever had it on the dyno; if not, you really should hit one up, they can tell you a lot about what's going on under the hood, and the areas you need to look at to fix any problems to maximize power.

Goddamn right, unless your car is struggling to get on tune you have more than enough to stride on a New Edge with solely a catback...

Here's the deal. When i bought the car it already had the heads/cam/intake, pullies, and 3.73's installed. Since i bought it i had it bored to a 306, did the exhaust and the cai, sub-frames, and springs. So honestly i'm not sure if it has ever seen a dyno. Should that be my next move...gettin it on the dyno?
