302 died - what to do while it's out of the car?

if it has a c6 in it keep it it's one of the best (if not) that ford has put out

Yeah, I've been trying to find threads on c6 to E40D conversions and all I can find are the other way around so I've been starting to get the idea that the C6 isn't my problem. A little looking around craigslist has a 351W for 4 or 5 hundred bucks so I'm thinking it's not worth my time to bother with the headgasket on the 302 with 150K and a previous owner who couldn't figure out how to change the oil and go with the engine swap instead.

So I take it that both cars are just how you want them? Why not invest some money in them? Seriously, do not waste your time or money on that thing. It will be slow no matter what you do.

My goal isn't really to make it fast. I just want to take my old van and make it a little more user-friendly since I've got to take the engine out to fix it anyway. I need to have it running since it's not like I can really carry anything bigger than groceries in the MR2 or the Mustang, so why not give it a little love if I'm going to have to do all this work anway?

Well a compression test has confirmed that not only is the head gasket toast, but it managed to blow a ring as well so the ole 302 is dead. I've got a local guy who's setting me up with a complete 351W for a good price so hopefully, a few cases of beer and weekends of cursing at the shop manual later, the van will live again. It comes with brackets, oil pan, and intake so I think I should be set after getting the exhaust lined up... although I'm not 100% sure that the unbalance is the same. More work for google I guess
