Im not saying that switching to a carb is for retards, however many people who are having trouble getting efi tuned in properly use the carb idea as a bandaid.

I should be right near 12.5, a little above maybe, when I start spraying 100.
That's exactly it, call me a retard but I don't.. no one around here does. We don't have a chasis dyno for 10 hours of us.

O well, I'll retrace my steps.. keep doing some research and try to get it worked out. My mass air is a C&L and I've heard alot of bad things about them since bought, so I got a new one on the way and I'll try that.. see if it makes a difference. Also got an adjustable fuel regulator coming. I'll reset the timing to 14 when the stuff comes in and go from there. Hopefully it'll work.

I would if it would run... but right now it's a pig.. and it's performance is horrid... stock engine would decimate it...

Well with the previous stock engine (exception of electric waterpump, a/c & smog delete, and bbk cai) and all my other mods my best time was a 13.4 @ 102 with a 1.78 60'. With everything I just put in it, damnit it'd be nice to see that 12.5... would you mind elaborating on the mods of that "mild carbed 306"?

Tuning a carb to make the most power can be more challanging than EFI.

I wouldnt argue against that, but there is a common misconseption that carbs are simple baby's toys that any joker just off the boat can tune in a half hour.
