Used gears (HELP)

I'm buying a set of used gears off of the craigslist. The seller says they are 373. Is there a way I can tell?

have him send you pics. it should be stamped on the end of the pinion gear if they are factory. if not count the teeth on the ring and then on the pinion. then divide the numbers(ring teeth / pinion teeth) this will give you the ratio. for example 41 ring gear teeth / 11 pinion teeth =3.727 gear ratio.

Thanks!! They are Ford racing gears so I should see it stamped. If not I will use your formula.

count the teeth on both and divide as stated = simple as 1,2,3

I'd pass on the used gear set. You may be taking on someone else's problems. Gear sets are cheap enough that there is no good reason to go with a used set. This is a real case where you could trip over a dollar to pick up a dime.
