Default gt40 and gt40p

my friend is looking into getting some heads for his 5.0 but he googled around and found out the gt40p's make better hp than the normal gt40, if it does make better hp how much of a diffrence is it between them and is it a diffrence you can feel.

there is a difference, as far as EXACT horsepower, it will be different for every single set up.

GT40p's will make slightly more power, but you have to deal with the stupid angle of the sparkplug's.

gt40's make slightly less, but no sparkplug/header issues.

personally i would just save for some aluminum head's

I have gt40p's with some cheap ebay headers and they work fine except on the #7 cylinder i had to use a 90 degree spark plug boot cause the header burnt through the boot. but besides that theres no issues

I second this. At the very minimum: get yourself a set of used Edelbrock's, Trickflow's, or AFR's. Those are leagues better than GT40's. By the time you get all the necessary machine work done (on top of the original cost of those cast heads) you would've been better off buying a new set of heads at that point.

The only way I could justify putting gt40's on my car is if I got them free. Not bad for stock castings, but definitely not worth paying hardly anything for.
