Default restoring 1/4 window molding ... fail

I thought i had this all worked out, till i was taking the tape off. Well, my moldings were deteriorated, and very rough. First i sanded it up to 220 grit. Finished w/ 400. from there, there were still bumps, so i used a high filler primer, and after about 10 coats it was smooth. Next was painting it with some black trim paint in the rattle can. after about 4 coats, i started to take off the masking tape, and along with it came some paint peeling right off the edge, showing the gray primer. what can i do to avoid this from happening? It is also very easy to flake off.
I spent alot of time doing this, hoping it would be better than befor, but its no better, just wasted my time. I cant get any pics of it now, cause im at my school. my photobucket is americankid .... photobucket.com/americankid or something.

-Any help would be nice.

the time you spent doing that I could of replaced the seals with new ones...either way run a razor blade down the seam between the tape and seal before pulling tape at and angle away from the body.

If you ask me, use better paint. I think the whole rattle can thing is the reasoning for the chippng.

they sell the replacement 1/4 windows, without the mustang logo imbedded in them...they are pricey.
