OK, why would anyone want to convert to a 2 speed slip-o-matic GM tranny?

Because they are about the only thing out there that can handle 1000+ HP. I have a buddy who's building a 1200 hp turbo 408 Mustang who I just helped install a glide into.

well I am the one that Capri is speaking of.. RHuckster: Unless you were born yesterday the powerglide has been in more fast cars than Jenna Jameson has **** videos... As Symonds86 said they handle alot of power and can be found in many Drag radial, outlaw 10.5 cars and such... No other trans will handle those power levels especialy above 1000hp.. reliably.. Aside a G-force, Bruno, Lenco style trans....

Q8stang: Really you will need a glide with a JW bellhousing for a SBF, JW "the wheel" Flexplate, you can use stock cross member, but will need a 1 inch spacer, crank adapter so you can run a GM style converter, Shifter with a neutral saftey switch built in (Hurst QUarter Stick)...to name most...

Personally unless you have a different vehicle not listed in your sig a glide is prolly not for you...

A Proline 5500 Powerglide can handle 3000 hp, In a light car making big power it's gets you into 1-1 ratio much quicker without needless shifts. It allows you to pretty much skip low gear and use the converter like a rubber band.

http://www.racewithjw.com/ will get you your flexplate, Crank adapter, and Bellhousing or Complete Transmission

you can buy a Hurst shifter or whatever shifter you like and buy you transmission and converter from whomever you choose...

Almost forgot, you will then need a driveshaft as well.. How much power you trying to make??
