Default After Market Intakes - Advice Needed!

Hey everyone i just recently bought a 1988 5.0L Mustang.

It has an after market intake. The filter is K&N. and its dirty and old as hell.

This is what it looks like.

Its gonna cost 75.00 to replace the filter alone ( from part source )

What should i do? Replace the whole intake system with a short ram intake or something like that? and what do u recomend me getting?

I Am On Limited Funds. I cant Spend Alot

thats a factory intake manifold

oh your talking about the CAI, I would get the factory airbox and stick a K&N panel filter in

or get those shiny ones on ebay for like $40-50

I used to have an 88 gt, i went to autozone or pepboys and bought a cai tube and thier K&n knockoff. They have everything you need, and it will be real easy since you have no maf.

You can either wash the K&N with a K&N charge kit or just replace it with a stock style paper filter. With the stock tube you won't see any increase in power with the K&N. As a replacement filter it's more about how long they last. Weve swapped the filters out on the dyno on several and came up with a Goose egg as far as power gains over a clean paper filter.
