just do i very good inspection of the car before you leave. check all fluids, hoses/ lines, air pressure, ball joints tie rod ends, ball joints, brakes, and anything else you can think of. replace or repair anything bad and you really should have any problem that you can prevent. i was drivin my 87 f350 diesel 200miles one way to college for 3 years and i always did this and never had a break down. good luck, don't worry yourself to much with what could go wring and HAVE FUN

Take a Xanax and drive it like you stole it, lol Be confident in your work in the car. If you worry that much you are cutting to many corners

When it comes time for me to get out of the army at the end of 2011 I am planning on driving the 93 17 hours from texas to indiana. That will be fun lol. Your 5 hour trip is gonna be easy man. Just relax and drive.

Id bring coolant and oil just in case(spare tire and jack of course). I did a trip to the mountains here and driving up those hills had my temp climbing and when I checked my coolant it was a little low. Also a little tool kit. I never go anywhere without it. You never know where you'll end up!!

Im completely confident in the car but ya never know, car never left me stranded before. She runs like a top but you never know when stupid stuff will happen. I carry my 154 craftsman kit everywhere as well as oil and coolent. Ill just throw some fuses in there, and a few small little things. I used to have cooling issues till i got the new radiator, thats why I wanted to bring spare set of hoses, seein as mine took some high temp abuse. And who ever said you would rather drive a 21 year old 5.0 then the escort is right lol
