Go Ahead and Laugh
I bought a new Moroso pan mounted dipstick and tube after about a good hour or better and three very gentle turns I had the tube fitted so it wouldnt touch the headers It's tight between the tubes but I finally got it. Then I went to push the stick in and it would only make the first turn. The flat stick won't make a compound curve. I pulled the tube back off and was scratching my head and was thinking a new Lokar was going to be the best option. Then I looked over on the old parts pile and saw the old antenna of my wifes old 03 Mustang. Just out of curiousity I grabed the antenna and shoved it down the tube. Went down pretty easy, Hmmmmm?
I cut the antenna about 1.5 inched longer than the tube.I then put the tube back on and bolted it all down then threw six quarts of oil in and fired off the engine. I took the antenna and ground a flat on the end and pushed it in and pulled it out and took a file and marked the 6 quart mark. Then I put the last quart in and marked the 7 quart mark. Then I took a dremmel tool and ground all the black powder coat off the shaft. I then looked through my tool box and found a mini Snap-On screwdriver and pulled the blade out, drilled and tapped the handle, put a drop of locktight on the threads and screwed the handle on. Hey we all have to have a dipstick right, Go ahead and laugh, lol
Here are a few photos
