Default Pad or cover??

The dash in my 86 is cracked and I was looking on latemodel resto and they have the covers and the new pads. Preferably I'd rather the new pad but the whole 200 dollar price tag thing pisses me off so I was wondering how the covers are? If anybody used one or has seen them on somebody's car do they fit good?

the cover sucks azz......the pad is so so at best, I bought one for my 85 in canyon red, I was none the least pleased with the quality and imperfections that were in it and it was flimsy and wavey in spots, but it was still better than what I had and after 2 years it looks okay once I installed it, the speaker grill areas were where most of the crappy appearance is
