Default Over heating 86 GT

My gt over heated the other day on the high way and I don't know why. I checked the fluids and they are fine. I changed the thrumostat and no difference. It takes about 40mins for it to reach hot. It seems to climb gradually weather I'm on the highway or around town. I definately gets hot faster around town. I'm guessing because there is not as much wind cooling the car. I clean all the leaves and such away from the raditator no change. Whats next? The car only has 48,000 original miles and runs great the oil level is fine. Help me pleases I want to drive the car.

The stock rads. tend to gum up. Considering their age..it's a given. Just take a look inside sometime, be a whole bunch of booger-looking **** in there. Anyhow it'll restrict flow and cause your problem.

just flush your rad out by the sound of it, it needs it but if that doesn't fix it then you may need a clutch fan
