Default long tube questions

motor: stock bottom end, comp cam xe270hr-14, 66 289 heads(modified, bigger valves, ported) ported typhoon intake.

car:lots of suspension, 3.73 gears

that said, what long tubes? im not looking at specific companies, more price than anything and the characteristics of the LT's i'd be buying.

whats the min gauge steel you'd go with on LT's? 18 too thin?

what size should i get? 1 5/8" sound good?

any other info i should look at when buying LT's?

from what I have read its worth the switch, I look at it like is the power gain really worth the hassle of a more difficult car to work on down the road? It must be because I have long tubes now..lol

I have to disagree with you primetime. I dont see any reason not to buy LTs. I have MAC LTs on one of my stangs and BBK ceramic coated LTs on my other. Starter doesnt give me any trouble, or getting the clutch out (maybe sn95s are different?). Install is pretty easy tooo.

Id just go with MAC or BBK 1 5/8 headers. whichever you find cheaper

maybe the 1 5/8's ones give you more clearance for everything?
