Well I installed the factory 4 cat pipe and left the flow masters on and drove the car to the referee and he said the max DB for a mustang is 95db's at a 45 degree 18 inches from the tip at 3150 rpm's he set up his meeter at the left tip and reved it to what he said was 3150 on the money it mesured 99.0 then he set it up on the right tip and it mesured 95.2
so now my question is what should I do pay the fine of 157.00 and say f*@# it or try to put other mufflers on for the same amount of $$$

Did he measure it at the tip with nothing around for the sound to reverberate off of? Anyway, Flows can be loud and everyone has them, which is why I don't like them.

i cant belive they think thouse muffler's are loud. more and more cali just looks like ****'s are making the laws.

you might want to just shell out for a new muffler.

Flow tech's Warlock muffler is cheap with a cutout in the muffler.

when we put one on my gf's old mustang with the cutout in it sounded just like stock. so im sure it would quiet it down, and you have the cutout for when you want it to be loud.

we payed $80 for her's. only complaint i have with them is the cutout isent secured onto the muffler the best. but you just have to torque em down good.

good luck.

95Db is pretty dang loud. OSHA requires the use of hearing protection when around equipment that produces 85Db or more(that's the limit that has been shown to cause permanent hearing loss if you're subjected to it regularly), and the Db scale is a base 10 logarithmic scale, so 95 is 10 times louder than 85.

The 95Db limit that Cali has is actually quite loud, so I'd hardly call them ****'s on that issue(on others, yes).

that make's more sence.

im basing this off of when i owned the muffler's. not to what 95 DB sound's like.... because i have no idea what 95DB sounds like.

when i had them they where VERY quiet.

but i imagine if you had your ear 2ft from the tailpipe they would seem quite loud.
