im trying to get an idea on what im going to spend at a shop for the whole kit and install and what a good price is, im thinking about vortech s trim kit, but if there is a cheaper s/c out there with the same power let me know

I think I am somewhere around 24 to 25 with mine after I get the dyno tune.
I bought the kb used and did the install myself.

cool deal, what else did you upgrade with the s/c; injectors & meter, how about fuel rails and fuel pump?

also you purchased the sct chip afterwards? and just take it to get dyno tuned?

I used a pmas 75mm maf, the $199 ford racing 42lb injectors from buyfordracing.com and a 255 holley forced induction pump. (I didn't know Walbro sold the same exact pump for a 100 bucks at the time)

The car was pinging sometimes so I called the tuner to get a chip for timing so I didn't blow it up driving it to him and the shop.

It turned out the pinging was from the intake leak that trickled coolant into the cylinders causing the plugs to foul at start-up.

The mechanic doesn't have room to even park my car in his lot right now so, I am considering waiting a month to have the labor done and just go ahead and buy some heads and a bigger maf for the car before having it tuned.

were you not using the stand alone feature on your pms? it makes tuning idiot proof
