Default 24hr Mustang-Gathering Road Trip - New 1992 notch stroker!

http://www.thatmetalbox.com/automoti...chbackStroker/

I have wanted a hot rod since I was 16.... about 19 years I have waited... I have gone though 9 mustangs in that pursuit... either I crashed them, was ripped off, or somebody totaled them for me. I have not yet put any seat time into a decent car in my life. For somebody who loves cars as much as I do, it has been slow torture - and I sincerely mean that. I have been driving a beat up 1993 notch 4 banger with 200,000 trashed suspension and steering (but cold AC and decent black interior) aside from that I have spent most of my driving time in a 1987 mazda 323 (salveged) or my first car a 1987 dodge dakota v6... that one was the worst basket case....@$#

Well now I've really got something. The nicest fox Ive seen. The cleanest interior in a 5.0 that I have seen, and some power too. See and read about it!

Goodjob on getting a clean notch. Looks pretty good, but that dropping oil pressure would have me VERY concerned.

Yes! it had me concerned for sure... so before I actually laid down the cash I bought a oil pressure sensor and after install the gauge immediately read exactly how the gent described it should be.

On the way back the steadily dropping deal I believe turned out to be a poor connection, jiggling solved it, and it has not re-occurred. I have put 500 miles on it now, and have pulled it into the back so I can crawl over it like MJ in a seminary.... (is it too soon??)

The radiator fluid is a bit rusty, gent said only distilled water, but it appears that he put very little if any coolant in there, so its a good flush for it, and fluids will be changed, brakes thoroughly investigated...

HEY do you fellows have any suggestions as to what I should check and verify etc? to ensure all good...such as leak down, etc

How much oil is acceptable for a 331 to burn? The trip saw the car eat 1 quart of Valvoline, also the idle SEEMS a tad high at 950 or so...? I know that folks try to solve idle issues with those adjustable plates....?

THANKS

it shouldn't burn any if it was built right and good quality rings were used......my 347 doesn't burn a drop of oil and it has been on more than a few long distance hauls as well as some beatings at the track

yes I wish i had the piston part number to see if they were of a type where the piston pin intersected a land...

the gent didnt remember WHICH stroker kit was used only that he SPECIFIED hyper pistons, he didnt want the knock. My PLAN (you know how plans work hmm) is to drive this as is for a time, then pull the engine... I want to inspect it and change to forged pistons - it is a sportsman block so worthy of aftermarket forged - and drop the engine into my 1991 white auto coupe... which will then have the 9" rear, and lentech AOD that is currently in my totaled 1991 silver coupe among other goodies. This combo will then eventually get a belt driven supercharger like the vortec low boost 5-6 PSIG, V-3

this 1992 will get the destroked small block Taylor Engines built for me before old man Jay Steel died

I believe that these are the hyper pistons currently in the car ,,,

Flat Top Effective Head Volume: 4.8cc (forged pistons)
Rod Length: 5.4
---------------------
Compression Ratios for KB355 hyper piston
cc cr
