Default Hotter Spark Plugs?

I have a '88 5.0 FI HO in my 1971 Stang...I also have a HD radiator that keeps my car running at 190-195 degrees. I seemed to remember my 1991 5.0LX running at about 220 degrees...should I be using a hotter plug...I blow alittle black smoke from time to time.

Thanks

thanks Ryan...It's been a while since my wrench turning days, but I seem to remember thaere are quite a few simple tricks to gain significant horssepower out of this engine. Since i dropped this into a 1971 Mustang i was able to ellinate the CAT Converters...I have the stock pulleys and chip in the cpu...seeing as the 5.0 is in a heavier car just looking to boost the HP without going crazy.
