+1 for 1.7 rockers, then get your heads and cam ready and just pull the motor again and do both

If you make the change to 1.7 rockers, make sure you have enough valve spring to handle it or face disaster.......

If the motor is out of the car, throw the cam in there. Who cares that it will hurt performance, which it wont, ask any1 with a cam and stocks heads. There is a reasonable difference in response and power. The TFS stage 1 is a great cam for what you wanna do. Throw it in there, be sure to get the spring kit tho. You'll be happy with the sound and the performance. Rocker Arms leave the stock ones, your heads wont flow the lift of a 1.7rr. If you have the cash get some 1.6rr but if you wanna leave the stockers you can granted they are in good condition. As for springs the Trick Flow spring upgrade is decent although i have heard a few bad things over the valve seals.

ok that would be me before i redid my whole build. stock heads, upgraded springs, stock rockers, B cam, typhoon intake. 89 lx 5speed. less than 3k miles since rebuild.

i got beat by a friends stock fox consistantly. he also was a 5 speed 150+ miles.

to me thats case and point you can hurt yourself putting parts together that dont mesh well. everytime i've mash on teh gas it'd gradually accelerate to 3k rpms and then take off. this was not any issue of install or anything. this is an issue of matching.

guys this is a easy response. you need to get a xe282 or n111 cam.

hahahahaha
+a million for .570+ lift cams that pull to 7K rpm on stock E7's... lol.
for that matter, get a XR292 solid roller and match with the stock springs. thatll make unholy power...
save your money and do the heads and cam at the same time. it is NOT that hard to do a cam swap with the motor in. dont even bother spending money on ANYTHING for the E7's.
