yeah i have decided that if i do go for an srt it will deff be stock or very close to it, no big turbo or anything like that. the thing that appeals to me about the srt-4 is the low cost of gas (when not driven like a maniac atleast) 230hp/250ft stock, and the fact that you can get them in the 12's very cheap with slicks. the only down side is that i will have payments but only till january so it's all good.

the mustang in the other hand is very cheap (alot of 5.0's are around here) from what i'm reading 95k miles is nothing, can't forget the sound of some flows on these 5.0 either. the only thing is it's probably going to take alot more money to get it to were i want it (mid to high 12's while still driving it to college and work)

My friend had an SRT-4 similar to that and he never got the thing tuned right, yeah it was a real fast car, i only pulled him a couple length but the car gave him more problems that it was worth and he ended up trading it in a couple months later. Buy the mustang and invest a little bit of money into it and 12's will be no problem. Just dont leave out your suspension, you can make all the power in the world but it means nothing if you cant hook.

yeah i keep reading that some suspension work and slicks with maybe full exhaust will yield 12.9-13.3
i want to keep it simple you know. n/a build to get 12's out of would be awesome since i wouldn't be putting stress on the 95k engine with a power adder. but it will probably cost alot. any suggestion?

If i had all 8 cylinders in my car and a better set of tires with only new lower control arms, i wouldve hit high 12's and i only made 300 wheel with about 80-90% leakage on my #1 cylinder. good driving, tires, little suspension work and some motor mods and youll be there, and much cheaper than the SRT-4 would cost just to buy.

you may want to check and see how much the motors are to replace in the srt

A friend of mine has an srt and somehow, I don't know how, dodge made a mistake and sent him a a reman motor and a new motor for his when he blew his up under warranty. He sold the new motor for 6 grand to another guy round here and kept the reman because of the better quality parts. If I am not mistaken it is a 10,000 motor.

i'm looking at a completely stock srt, 2005 with 42kmiles for $12k. so from i been researching over these last 3 months, the srt stock with slicks and driver mod (which btw i have ) are hitting 13.5-13.7 not bad for only a couple hundred dollars for slicks, add a couple bolt ons and up the boost and that car might see low 13's to even high 12's again for less than $2k. so for about 16-17k (including car) i have a 20+ mpg car hitting 12's while driving like its stock.

now say i go with the 95Gt for the $3900. the $5k i would of put down on the srt now pays the mustang and i still have $1.1k to spend on a few mods. now with about $1k in mods what can i do to get the most out of the car without adding nitrous. keep in mind that i will be throwing about another $5k in mods in jan to either car.
