Should I upgrade to 31 spline?

That's BS, you don't need 3" studs per NHRA rules, you can run an ordinary closed lug-nut if you feel like it. NHRA rule book (which I have read many times during my build) states the stud must protrude the hex portion of the nut a distance that is at least equal to the diameter of the stud. So for a 7/16" stud which your car has, the stud only needs to enter the hex portion of the stud 7/16" of an inch. Open nuts are to just make tech faster, they don't have to be open. I bought a set of ARP's, then cut them to fit under my closed lugs. Have never had a problem, they just make me take off a nut every time.

Fast cars? You'd never even stand a chance of keeping up with mine with your 347 and 5 speed. I have a 408 w/ an auto, got rid of the 5-speed junk, if you did any true racing you would know 5-speeds are no good for it, ET is far too in-consistant, how many drag cars have a standard in them? Look next time. My car used to be a 5-speed car, but when I did the motor swap, got rid of that.
