larger MAF would be worth the investment. the rest i would leave stock. i had a B cam on stock build...i wasnt happy. i switched out to the ported typhoon intake, i was much happier, but it still wasnt making my happy. that cam doesnt really wanna kick it up until 3k+ RPMS.

IMO i would stick with the stock cam. but if its already in there...just leave it and regasket everything. but you'll wanna change it though when you get a chance.

I know you said you dont want to..... But id pickup the block, make sure everything in its OK, run your car the way it is for a while and saveup your pennies for a GT-40 setup. Everyone has the grand scheme where their cars are gonna run 10s and 11s..... but when? The gt-40 setup is very attainable, and youll be able to realistically enjoy your car, and, when the time comes you can easily sell it all, sometimes for more than you bought it for. When setup right they can run a lot better than most people think. IF YOU LOOK, you can find explorer intakes for 150-200$... The set of P heads that are on my other mustang i found in a junkyard for 150$. The header issue is beat to death, ive had two different types of longtubes on my P heads and they fit NO PROBLEM. If you wanted to get real carried away you could get the explorer lower ported for cheap and do a little cheap head work... throw a comp cam and springs in it, and youll have a PISSED off 5.0 for very inexpensive. Want more? Boost or nitrous, and your stock block will be maxed. This way, you can enjoy your car now, AND later

Just one's thoughts...

BUT if youre hellbound on the stock setup, id sell the b-cam for whatever you can get out of it and buy some 1.7rr's for the stock cam. The stock fuel/ignition systems are fine, for now.

I've got 1.7 rockers on the stock set up. The stock valve springs aren't strong enough, valve float is the reason my #1 cylinder is pissing oil out the valves. At 5300+ it floats.
This is at least what I think is wrong as my oil consumption greatly increased after changing rockers and experiencing float. But we will not truly find out what is wrong until I pull the heads and check things out.

We'll just pull the cam out and run the stocker in there. It's settled then.
