Whats it take to run 10s
Hey all. I am new here and I am into the diesel performance thing. I have a F-250 for that but I want to build a fox body that runs low 11s or high 10s. I really lost all of my knowledge on the 5.0 years ago when I bought my diesel. I want to build a motor for my truck but for the price of Rods in it I can buy a 331 rotating assembly from DSS and for half the price I can get pretty much a long block from DSS with AFR heads and the whole 9 yards. I just want to know what setups work best for street strip and are able to run on pump gas.

You can get a stock fox into the 12's with just suspension mods. Slap 8psi of boost into it, you're in the mid 11's.
Don't get caught up in the DSS hype either, they are factory OEM ford blocks that have been shined up, that's about it. Absolutely nothing special about their blocks.

Whats the strength on the bottom end though??? I mean I have the know how to build my own engine from the ground up I just dont know the limits on everything for a fox body. IIRC there was a 2 year period that the forged rods came in the 5.0 forx bodies or there was something different about them. What can the heads hold before tehy need studs and O rings for boost. I was wanting a turbo or 2 on mine no N2o and I might go for a supercharger but I would like either a turbo or go all motor. I want it just to run on the street to have some fun and then to run on the strip for sure. 10s would be awesome

O trust me its about half to price to get a stang into the 10s then my truck into the low 13s high 12s. Rods to handle the CP are 2600-3500. Thats just the damn rod then you through in my 4500 tranny that I have already, 2K for injectors, machine work, another 700 bucks for head studs, a turbo to handle the fuel your putting into it then the time and money for the live tuning. There is plenty of stuff I am leaving out. Trust me its way cheaper to build a car into the low 11s high 10s.
How hard is it to fit a big block into a fox body? also what has to be done to the suspension to handle the added weight? I would love to put a 331 in and build it so it could run 11s if not 10s on pump gas and NA. I dont know if it can be done because I dont know anything about these really. If I can fit a 351W in just as easy as I can a 302 block then I would go up to that if not higher if its easy to fit it in. What do I need to run these times for under say 10 grand

351 will drop in the fox easy but, you need a taller hood or to drop the motor down some. Not really sure what is involved in dropping it down but, it probably includes an aftermarket k member. Maybe even lowering the spindles.

10s are possible for under 10k. pull the heads off, put on some mls gaskets and use head stud. you can do it with e7s but itll be a little easier with some gt40s which are cheap. get a b&g turbo kit ($3000), 42# injectors and matching maf (under $1000 if new, maybe half that if used), suspension, suspension, suspension, slicks ($1000 with new wheels) and good clutch ($$$?? i dont drive a manual).
where in ca are you?
