Default 92 5.0 LX Pass. Window motor

New member here, About to pull the int. panel off the passenger door and replace the motor. Neither the driver side switch or the pass. side switch will raise it. Yes, it is in down position.

Is it a complex replacement? Advice? If an applicable thread exists, pls. point me to it.

Thanks in advance, Larry

I'm not totally sure on this, but you might find that the motor is riveted to the regulator. Sometimes they are, sometimes they are bolted. If its riveted, just have a drill bit a couple sizes larger than the hole in the center, and drill straight through it.

Also, the problem could still be in the switch. The passenger switch will not work if the drivers switch doesn't. The power is routed that way. Verify that power is entering and exiting both switches before you go crazy trying to replace the motor.

My 93GT was simple-pull doorpanel, unplug harness, remove 3 bolts, pull out motor. If I remember correctly I pulled the door speaker and removed the motor out that way.

Guys, Confirmed it was motor as all switches tested and worked. Motor IS bolted to regulator and removing speaker IS best way to get to it. Thanks.

its probably just the bushings inside that need to be replaced, open it up and see if it contains three round plastic bushings. if its anything like the convertible rear motors that was my problem and was a 8 dollar fix from autozone.

note: usually the bushing will be in pieces

Unfortunately, already ordered and rec'd replacement motor. I'm going to check the bushings on the old motor after I pull it out anyway. Man, never too old to learn. Appreciate the input.

bushings are on the regulator not the motor the cause the glass to have side to side movement and you need a big daddy rivet gun and 1/4" aluminum rivets to reinstall

the bushings that i was refering to are the plastic gear bushings inside the motor, there are three of them. they get bridle and break.. my window would go down but not go back up. i opened up the motor and the bushings were in tiny pieces. i replaced them and wala it worked.

On the bushings in the motor a permanent fix is to use 6 5/16"-18 nuts in 3 stacks. They will never wear out and you will never have the problem again.
