4.10's
#11
well its seems that the people that have replied to my thread did not read my prev. thread? Its my wifes car and the wheels have to stay, so when I gave her the car she was very disapointed that the car wouldnt peel out? so the flowmasters whent on and a bbk cia , and I swapped the 273 for 4.10's , and it still won't boil the tires ? it does have 150,000 miles on it, so I am wondering how to get about 40 more house power? I come to the forum because all of you drive mustangs and have a pretty good idea how to make them go fast, The wheels would not be my choice nor would a automatic yellow convertable, so given the info at hand how can I make the tires spin from a standstill without holding the break or spraying it? it only needs a little more power to smoke em, any easy mods would be app, would advancing the timing help or is that a waste of time? would gt 40 heads help?
and like you said, you came on here, hoping to get advise from a bunch of people who drove mustangs and knew what they were talking about and you go it. the only problem is you got advise you dont like so your mad. the long and the short is, get smaller wheels, or plan on some major hp mods. most smart people want their car to hook up, so that itll go fast, you want something rediculous. you want a car with huge ugly wheels, driven by a woman, to roast the tires and slide out of control because............ well i cant thing of one good reason why youd want that. but the point is, you want wheels to hook up, not spin. my car will roast the tires from a roll in 2nd gear and i hate it. the car is worthless on the street unless i pedal it.
one thing you could do is put some really really worn out shocks in the rear, take out the quad shocks, and drill holes in the factory bushings. this will make the rear end so loose itll bounce around and the tires will break loose every time you gas it.

timing might, mostly the AOD is to blame not the wheels
if she's into it, get a shift kit and a stall converter.
unfortunately you listened to the naysayers who are afraid to go fast and are scared of 4.10's
yes, 4.30's would have done it for you, but you can still manage
don't go any lower than 3000 advertised stall speed, and get a good one like, precision industries, or lentech
also can do the "low" gearset rebuild for the trans.
changes your first gear from 2.40 to 2.84 and also 2nd from 1.47 to 1.55
bonus to that kit is a bigger od band, and some other upgrades from the aode (pretty sure yours still has the aod)

Good you installed them with no whine, good work!
Like bob stated, you can get the 4r70w gearset (you need to change some internal parts as they dont flip flop from 4r70w to aode.)
While you have the trans out, put a new converter in. since i have had a tight 3000 stall and a loose 3800 stall, the looser and higher the more fun it is.
I would run a 5k on the street, but i would have a very good cooler to keep the fluid temps down. 3500 is a walk in the park.
Neil chance, BTS, Ultimate Converter, Edge, and PI would be the companies i would choose from for a converter.

it's not boiling the tires because its a mostly stock automatic Mustang, dunno what you expect but they are pigs. If you're not even getting a small peel out with 4.10s it's not like 4.30s would have made the thing a tire smoker...
