Default Pick one of three, final cam decision!! Vote Now

Ok so here we go, I have narrowed it down to three cams. 1. The comp 35-425-8 xtreame energy retrofit cam. 2. Comp xtreame energy XE274HR 3. Comp xtreame energy XE282HR

1. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-35-425-8/
2. http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp-Cams/249/35-518-8/10002/-1#
3. http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp-Cams/249/35-522-8/10002/-1#

The third one may be a little to much cam for my motor but thats why I am asking you guys. This will be my final desicion, Im not going with any custom grind at this time, that will be my next motor. Will all three of these work, remember Im using the stock 88 shortblock, so I dont want any PTV contact. Any experiance with these cams. The first one is what the guy from comp told me to use.

springs will reflect the cam you use, choose a cam then match the springs to it

all of those cams you chose should require a dual spring set up and on stock ford heads will require seat machining

Ok so count the last one out, I was reading a few old posts and it sounds like the 282HR is to much of a cam for my set up. So mjr, you seem to have a vast amount of knowlege and you have been very helpful so far. Out of the first one and the second, what do you think will be best for my setup? oh and compared to that thumper cam you have

you should avoid the first one... you do NOT want a retrofit camshaft

im still partial to the xe276HR for gt-40 and gt-40P headed builds

personally I'd rule the last two out, expecially if you are using gt-40p heads...don't know how true this is but from what I have read about gt-40p heads peak flow is up around .500 lift, , your head choice will be the crutch here
