Default would you trade?

I've got a really nice 308 Bennet Racing built short block, with all the bell's and whistle's. It was built for a 310 ci or less all-motor/normally-asspired class. This would be great for pure street, factory stock etc... except for the alluminum rods . It is zero balanced, alluminum rodded, custom lightened weisco flat-top piston with inline head " high-ports" 2.19 int. 1.84 ex. valve reliefs. This Beast rev's like a Banshee, it's a pure screamer!!! The crank is zero balanced, internally with mallory metal, knife edged & lightened, oil holes r radiused an filleted' The rods are Top of the line GRP alluminum with the locking end caps and the best bolts, they are also powder coated Black to pass the flash light test!!! if u know what I mean

This motor has about 15 qtr. mile passes, the only bad part is one piston (#1) has a small dimple the size of green pea, can be run. This is not a major default, but depending on your discretion you can get another piston for $60. This happened on a launch, when it broke the input shaft & front case in a TKO Tremec, thus causing it to over rev! the exhaust valve broke and touched the piston, then it went out through the exhaust & header. Because it was open headers you couldn't even tell the motor was hurt ie: 15 to 1 comp. 740 in. lift solid roller! as a matter of fact it still went 11.10 granny shifting with a T-5 in a 3000lbs car on 7 cylinders! The broke valve was not even found till the disassembly, it bairly hurt the one piston, still runnable especially in a street/weekend warrior motor. If it was going to be an all out race only application I would get another piston! $1000 cash takes it! Block, crank, rods, pistons, & balancer.
he says its a billet balancer. the motor is currently disassembled. from me he wants

my flaming river manual rack and steering shaft
factory stock diamond pistons .040 bore
255 crank

would you do it? and why?

I would if I had the stuff you have! Idk, if you can put an engine together, but I sure can. Even at $1G, it a good deal!

you wouldnt be worried about the rods being overrevved and the piston smacking the valves?

What are you plans for it? That really make the descision. IF you want to drive your car nand have it not be a drag car only, that 15 to 1 comp would suck.

How is the head?

As far as over reving, I wouldn't worry. For the 1000, the parts are worth more than that.

What block? and it is not gone to make a good street engine if that is what you are thinking . A engine like that is HIGH MATIANACE. Rods and bearings and valve springs what lifter is in it? when you do a rebuild you will need to budget rods into it . My friend replace his every year and it is a track only car. Also remember RPM will kill a stock block quick I have seen it happen to many times. And rev is what that thing was built for. the deal sounds to good to be true for a even trade why does he want to get rid of it? but if it all checked out good I would do it.
