Default Can you run block numbers?

Just wondering if there is any numbers on my block anywhere i can decode? The previous owner said it is out of a 89 but i would like to find out for sure...

if it is out of an 89 you won't know cause all blocks from 87-90 carried the e7 CASTING

Well that will narrow it down enough i guess, where is the casting?
