"390v8 swap" will it fit?
ive been a die hard Mustang/Ford Fan for many years and ive had a few fox bodies. But now i have a 2000 Mustang V6....5-speed.
Im tired of not having eight cylinders. I have been given a 1969 ford truck with a 390ci engine and its also a manual trans...i wanna take that engine and install it on my V6....will it fit???? thats my major concern. will i have to fabricate custom motor mounts? Also, is the five speed on a v6 the same as a GT?? im thinking of having the 390 with a C4 trans...but i dont know if the engine will fit...plus i know i should be looking for a diff and a driveshaft...oh and brakes too..what should i take into consideration first?
any advice on the Swap is greatly appreciated...
thanks.

The 2000 V6 and V8 do NOT share the same manual transmission.
Do yourself a favor, save time and money (and many many "WTF's") and just buy something that already has a V8, and sell the sixxer

well that was the plan....i wanna buy a fox coupe, but theres no way that im gonna get that kind of money by selling the sixxer....its been for sale, but i guess im asking too much for it....2000 v6, 109,000 miles, five speed, overall in great condition...$3,500.
but no one has even called, and i have it on the side of a very busy road. someone actually f***ed with it and stole my driver side mirror. and right now i have the 390 engine, the C4 trans, and a welder...haha...but yea, i wish i had a fox coupe, but i dont.
ive done swaps but on s10's for other customers, but i wanna have a 390 on a 2000 stang. no one has that. not where i live....

dumb???? a five-o on a miata, good concept but the miata sucks looks-wise. and ive done the old 350 on an s10 and thats a nice little toy to have.... but as for the sixxer...yea im guessing on going with a 302. seems alot better. do i still need the k member?

A 390 is going to wiegh about 600lbs even with an aluminum intake. There are NO headers for the swap as far as I know. Oil pan will need to be custom built. Same for motor mounts. All that to have about 63% of the car wieght on the front wheels.
Don't seem like a real good idea to me......

BTW, I'd bet money you have a C-6 not a C-4 as all the FE series engines came with C-6 trany's. None were built as far as I know with a C-4.
There are kits out there for doing a C-4 to an FE but it seems like sort of a granade to me.
