Default new 5.0 to the forum

well guys, ive had my 96 gt for about 7 years now, and ive had my 98 for about 4 years now... i wanted something different so i just bought myself a 95 GTS. lookin forward to learnin more about the 5.0 rather than just the 4.6 all the time. haha. http://s386.photobucket.com/albums/o...ge96/95%20gts/ heres just the pics from the craigslist ad, ill try to get some more later. it has no second gear, a bad radiator fan, a worn clutch cable, and the tach is all wacky(sometimes goes backwards or doesnt read at all) all of this stuff i can fix no problem. i paid $2000 for it with 100k miles. thing is actually in really good shape and has practically no rust. look forward to your guys' help when i start breaking stuff on this one now haha

and for my first question, the car is breakin up really bad at around 3000 rpm, pulled the dizzy and cleaned all the contacts, looks like the cap and rotor need to replaced none the less. plugs are new, pulled all of em. and im not really sure how to read the timing on this motor with the timing light, got any threads on how to time these guys?

alright i cleaned the maf, put a new cap and rotor on, he had a CAI on there, i replaced it with the stock intake. put new plugs and wires in. It runs better, but its still intermittent. It drives fine up to 3 grand, then falls on its face because of misfires. But tonight i was coming home and it ran up past 4500 without a hitch in all gears. But then i get into my driveway and rev it and it misses like crazy at 3000. i didnt touch the timing at all, left it where it was. i do hear a pretty good exhaust leak on the passenger side exhaust manifold, from cyl 8? (very back one) other than that, im thinking that the dizzy isnt advancing the timing at higher rpms? i honestly havnt worked much with dizzy's and the timing so my arms are up in the air on this one haha. thanks guys
