Default the 86gt build begins

as fate would have it i ended up with my old 93 lx again after the kid wrecked it on the freeway when it hydro planed. bent the rear axle.
Ive grown less fond of the 4 eye look so im going to start with a nose and hood swap. ive already swapped in the better seats and im going to see if my halo deadrest will fit the 93 seats. im debating swapping the dash since its blue. im thinking about the doors since they have power everything and door speakers and mine doesnt even have power locks. my car has grey inside qrtr plastic from a 87-93 to go with my windows.ive done a dash shop on my old 85gt vert it was a pita and its easier if you have a whole car like this since the heater box and stuff needs to get swapped and the fuel sending unit and other stuff to make the gauges work right. but i did it with a 88 dash and the cluster isnt exactly the same on 93s wiring wise i forget whats differant. if it was a black or grey dash i would be all over the swap but i just dont know. i can do it and just swap in a grey/black dash later when i find one.
anyways this is just what im thinking on the 93. but i also have a pretty fresh 306 block out of a 85 that just needs a gasket set and heads but its a non roller. i also started my 5 lug swap when my posi whent out so ive only done the front 5 lug. im debating what route to go in the back. whole new axle with disc brakes or rebuild mine and do the flipped discs or what?my t5 is leaking out of the front at the input i geuss so i have some stuff to do for sure. i want to make the car handle better too. the prelude with 4 wheel steering is spoiling me i geuss.
so tomorrow im starting the nose swap, next i want to adress the 5lug in the back and t5 issue. any ideas on a 8.8 with discs and the same width that is posi or can install clutch packs in. my current axle has 2.72 gears so thats a factor too

today i started on the nose swap. both noses and hoods are off, both inner bumpers. the 86 inner bumper cant inter change with the plastic 93. the 86 is made from metal. i removed it since the 86 is bent and i thought i could switch them. i have 2 headlight harnesses so i think im just going to modify my existing one with 87 plug ends the side marker will be the same. i also have to figure out what to do about my 86 gt fog lights. the hit the bumper but it might be possible to clearance the bumper inside and have hidden fog lights or neatly do some cut outs. the bumper is cracked in a sopt already so i figure i might as well. i like my fog lights and dont wanna lose them. besides im after a 93 cobra style nose eventually. so heres some pics.
oh i still have to swap the fender extensions and trim. im not sure what else i want of the 93 before i scrap it

its funny, your car is the car i wanted originally, but a clean 90-93 gt with ponywheels has always been a a spendy find. i just like the gt body kit basiaclly. i already have all the side skits and the wing. my other reason for a nose swap is theres not much out there for the 85-86 hoods as far as options.
anyways today ill play with all the wiresand front trim and get the nose bolted up all the way. once thats out the way i damn near may as well pull the drivetrain! i really want to smooth out the engine bay, but i dont think its practical right now.
i need to decide what motor im going to use first.
my current motor is ok but i think the oil rings are worn out.i have a 306 block with crank, 30 over pistons and cam but its a non roller cam and it needs heads and i have 2 sets of e7s but they need to be gone trough first. so decisions decisions. i have a spare roller cam and all the stuff but i dont know if this is a 85 block or just a block out of a 85 cfi car. some say i can just tap the block and install the dogbones and stuff.
the 4banger t5 has been good to me so ill wait for another one to grace the pull a part yard and snag it for the price of $55 since my current one leaks from the input shaft.
