Default Question about mounting the battery in the trunk

I bought the summit battery box kit and I plan on installing it soon on my 95 GT. Does the gas tank need to be lowered when drilling the holes for the box? When routing the positive battery cable, do I route it under the frame or through the interior? What has everyone here done? Any comments? Any pics?

It would all depend on where you're drilling the holes.
And I would imagine that running the cable through the interior would be rediculously tedious and no where near as easy as running it under the frame.
Try searching around and see what you find, Whatever you do, do it right!

I ran my cable inside. Not a big deal. Didn't have to drop the tank b/c of where the mount is. Do be careful though!

^ Thats what I did. Running it through the interior really isn't bad at all. If you have ever put subs and an amp in a car it is the same deal. I didn't drop my tank either. But like Pro said, be careful

When running the cable through the interior is there an existing hole in the firewall to put the cable through?

The steering rack has a nice big rubber grommit you can slice a little slit in, and run your wire. You can ether run it down the side of the drivers seat, through the middle under the console, or even behind the dash and down the passenger side of the car.

simple work, just very time consuming.

Under the center console, then under the carpet behind the e-brake on the tranny tunnel, then under the rear seats... awesome.

When I did my battery in the trunk. I did two conversions. I also placed the starter solenoid in the trunk so the big positive battery wire was dead until cranking.
That wire I ran outside the car.

The switched and charge wire, which are required for an NHRA legal set up, to a switch. I mounted those inside the car. Actually it's not required to run a switched and charge wire to be legal but when you move the battery in the trunk. The track wants a cut off switch also installed and it must kill the engine when it's flipped. They are also fused with fuseable links in my car.

I like that location. Can it be done without removing the fender? Or does the fender need to be removed to run the wire through that grommet?
