That's exactly what it was! I took the cover off, tightened them down (one i backed completely out with my hand), and it quieted right down.

The spiractic idle stopped on it too, for a minute. Let me explain:

We left the distributor hold down clamp loose so we could adjust the distributor housing a bit with it still on the car to get the timing just right. Well, when was pulling it back into the garage, I hit a patch of ice and the car shifted side to side and knocked the distributor out of alignment (didnt come off the gear, but the housing turned a bit), now it wont stay running. Takes alot of cranking for it to even fire up (As it cycles to get to the right firing order). Now I need to find out what the hell happened to it. It stalls out almost immediately now unless you give it gas.

Also gotta do a base idle reset on it. Like an idiot when it was driving smooth like a brand new car, I unplugged iac and the car died. Hasn't been right ever since.

whats the best way to reset timing? The shaft didnt come out of the block only the housing turned. Should i just rotate it some more til its fine or pull out dist. Turn crank so the marks line up and reinsert dis. With rotor facing #1?
