Default Cutch Quadrent

A buddy of mine stopped by yesterday to get me to order some parts for him. He ended up finding this on ebay for a cheap clutch quadrant.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTA...Q5fAccessories

It looks like everything is there including the firewall adjuster. But, when we scroll down to the bottom of the page, it says it is for a 79-04. He had me look for number to the place and we didn't see one. I wrote them a message and never got a response back.

What do you think? should he save the 50 bucks and get it or go with the expensive cables. One thing different from others we looked at is this one has 3 forks on the quadrant. Also, the 79-04 part just seems fishy to me. But, it is 50 bucks cheaper.

I bought a steeda kit a few years ago. Around a 100 bux for everything. Has worked flawlessly. If it were me, I'd spend the extra money especially w/ how many threads there are around here concerning those parts.

thanks...I told him that pretty much but, he thinks he can make this one work.

The company wrote me back claiming that the cable is for a 79-93 but, it is also used on the 94-04 models by routing it different. The cable would be shorter than a 94-04 cable but, they claimed it would work better since their is less places to bind with it being shorter.

Anyway, I think he is going to try this one...thanks again

the thing is I am helping him with it. He has had this car for 7 years and just now has decided to put it together. 4 year ago he relocated the battery to the trunk and stripped it of its 4 cylinder parts. He had a rear-end shortened an 1" and half built with a spool that he put in 3 years ago. About 2 year ago we took all the carpet out to find rust and had sub frames welded in.

When he got laid off we really started working on it. We put in a tubular front end with camber plates. Adjustable shocks with uppers and lowers. The motor came out of his back halved car. We got it in with an aggressive hydraulic cam and ported gt-40 heads that won't even lay flat on a table they have been milled so much. He had me order an adjustable alternator bracket the the other day too. All we like now is the clutch cable, installing the pedals and figuring out the fuel lines. I want him to do a Holley black pump but, he wants to use an intake pump that he has. Then taking to have the Bassani (cheery bomb looking mufflers) welded in and it will be going.

Cool project, don't know why he is building it, he already has a race car. But, it will be something to play with.

Eventually I think, he will take the afr 225 headed 408 with the dominator sitting on top out of the race car and put in this car...He already mentioned a full back half of the car in the future.

I got the $79 kit from www.50resto.com. Billet quadrant with adj cable and firewall adjuster. Works great. It is the same as the Steeda kit for less money.
