Thumbs up Need some help guys

Hey all, i have a 1993 5.0 LX trunk. i have pulleys, k&n air filter, 355's, shorty headers and exhaust.. oh ya its a mac.. no cats just mufflers and it has the offroad H pipe. I want to make some changes with the intake manifold, the throttle body and the mass air. I just dont know what to purchase and what will work best with a stock motor...? And at the same time i want the most i can get out od it.

is it possible to have a different cam in with the gt40 intake and heads? if so what cam would be safe and would you need to upgrade to 1.7 rr's?

You don't have to upgrade to 1.7's but it would help. The best cam choice is always a custom one but if you are not worried about every once of power and don't have the cash then a normal off the shelf cam will suffice. You just have to upgrade the valve springs to MATCH the cam.

Then it would be more work then just buying heads that would match the cam right off the shelf right? and ive heard not to use letter cams, what cam would be best to match the gt40 heads?

If you are just doing the top end, Cobra intake is a good choice. That with a 65mm tb and 70 or 75mm mass air should give you a nice sotp increase (maybe 20-30hp). Of course, check your budget. That's how mine started. I got a good deal on an original Cobra intake with a TB and then it just ballooned from there.

Do you have plans to do the heads and cam at any point? If so, how long down the road? May want to wait to get it all to save $$$ on the gaskets/fluids that you'll need to do it.

total waste of money to put on a bigger TB and bigger/better intake and leave the bottle neck in there = meaning the heads and cam.....what your doing is a funnel principle...pour as much air in as you want but if at the end of the chain the opening is small, no matter how much you open it up at the beginning, still won't change the end result, sorry I won't be cool and tell you what you want to hear, but I bring you the truth.......gt-40 heads and 1.7 rockers with a stock cam would at least level the playing field somewhat........and PS. YOU WANT A REAL MASS AIR METER look at PRO-M racing
