Default MM SFC grade of steel

Does anyone know the type of steel used in MM SFC? im trying to source the material for less than they sell it for plus my dad is a fabricator so my cost will only be the material.

Thanks

Probably mild steel. It's used in virtually all things structural for vehicle performance due to it's strength/weight/cost ratio. It's also the easiest to weld. Anything else used is always more expensive and only typically used for weight savings, such as chrome-moly steel for cages...but CM is very difficult to weld and requires a heat treatment after welding etc.

True mild steel sae 1010,thru 1030 is very easy to weld and inexspensive compared to high carbon steel like chrome-moly (4100 series).
4130 C-M is NOT hard to weld if you have the proper equipment. TIG welding is the only way to do it right. No heat treatment is normally done to automotive parts...

Those sfc are more than straight steel tubes, they should contour to the car body. Gotta fab the tie-ins for the seats, too.

I'd just buy the connectors.
