cam choice
what street friendly cam would you recommend for the sn95 computer
|
cam selection shouldnt be limited by the computer. I'm running a rather aggressive cam in my SN95, and it doesnt give me any problems
|
depends on what you have done to the car. a 302 with a mild HCI needs a different cam than a built 347. more info needed.

Yes you have to give more info like your staying stock everything else or doing a cam and intake or whatever the case may be, and if the car is an auto or 5 speed, and rear gear ratio also!
There are alot of things that have to be considered, but just a suggestion if you just want a camshaft for the awsome sound of having one just get an E cam will be ok with stock heads and springs long as they arent worn out, and the duration will be ok with and auto if you have a afive speed you can choose a b,e, or f cam ( or similar cam specs) and be ok with factory components! E cam lift is .498 w 1.6 rockers and .529 lift with 1.7 rockers B cam lift is .480 with 1.6 rocker and .510 with 1.7 (sounds more agressive than the e cam) F cam lift is .512 with 1.6 and .544 with 1.7 the durations on these cams arent so much you need any other mods but is recommended b and f cam for 5 speed only. every camshaft will work at a different rpm and better or worse with certain intake and heads! how to figure out lift of the cam is the grind lift ex: ecam is .311 x rocker ratio 1.6 gives you .498 if you want something cheaper and better sound, if your the sound guy is the tfs stage 1 it is a .499/.510 only with a 5 speed unless you have an aftermarket TQ converter. |
thanks guys ...im building a fresh 306 with 190cc/60cc heads, ported stock intake, and shortys ...eventually i will upgrade some of the easier stuff like maf, gears and injectors if needed ...also is 5speed 2.73 :(
i want something that is aggressive as i can and yet be able to sit in stop and go traffic with out problems |

a couple mild computer compatible cams are the Crane 2031 and Steeda #19, i like my #19. Adder is right though with a tune you can run pretty much any cam in our cars with good results. How radical you go with the cam will depend on your heads and intake.

if you cant afford a tune, then you cant afford those heads.. sell them ASAP and save money for something that isnt going to cost you hundreds of dollars, just to get them setup correctly.
