there have been quite a few to eclipse that mark xpballer......but not without suspension mods and tires and a good driver with only bolt ons, meaning not cracking open the long block and using stock intake

I think what 86 5.0 was refering to was stock in terms of stock uncracked motor.....heck in bracket racing the pure stock class, even though it carries the name pure stock allows non stock mods to a degree and still considers the car stock

i agree... "stock" is a relative term

i consider stock to be a stock motor

with that being said my '89 went 12.50's on 4.10's, et streets and 75 shot

on motor it went 13.20's and the valve covers had never been off the car

i could easily have gotten 12's out of it stock if i ever cared to, i only had southsides on it and never get better than a 1.7X 60 foot time if i remember correctly

and there was plenty of weight to dump

not to mention my launches were usually about 3500, full slick i'd go 5k and that alone shoulda done it, and if i squirted 125 instead of 75.... prob looking at 12.10-12.20's instead of 12.50's

so to answer the question.... to easily hit hi 12's... a little smack, gears and a tire.
