Well first off, hello to all members in the forum. I just bought a 1994 mustang GT for $1500, around 2 hours ago lol.

Let me start off by saying the body is mint condition all black w/18 Chrome cobras on it. I paid $1500 because the car seems to have a blown head gasket, warped or cracked head so I was wondering if any of you guys have an idea what might be.

The car starts off fine but smells like antifreeze and smokes a little bit, the seller told me it was a headgasket but I would like to know would it be better to put the heads too or is there a way that I could check the heads for warpage or crack? any input is well appreciated, I will post pics tomorrow as is dark but you'll fall in love the way it looks lol.

bring it to J&M Motorsports in Manchester they'll take a look at it for you.

does the car overheat at all or anything like that?

and does coolant come into the passenger compartment?

the top half the motor will need to come apart, but for now run the motor, pull the radiator cap off, if on a cold motor the level rises immidiately and pushes out the top = good sign of a blown head gasket or safe to say that's the extent of the min damage.......if it's a small blow....a block check kit can be purchased and confirm such by testing for hydrocarbons in the cooling system, anyway warpage is checked for on the heads and deck surface after parts are removed and a straight edge is laid across them and using a feeler gauge, check for clearance, max is usually .003-.004, IIRC there is a spec ford has, you'll have to look it up, I'm away from ALL Data RIGHT NOW

I ran the car today a little bit for around 10 minutes just to get it home as I left it in my brother house yesterday night because I had to register it today.

Well it ran fine but it does over-heat I opened the radiator cap it was low and I checked the engine oil and it was milky, no strange thing is it doesnt smoke at all I thought I saw smoke yesterday but no it doesn't. The car doesn't missfire at all though everything is perfect except for the oil/coolant mixture.

I will be removing the heads on monday as am working on a tranny swap for another car at the moment and dont have the space in the parking lot at the moment.

By the way where exactly is J&M in Manchester.

The heater core is ok, if that's where you tried point out, definitely the problem is between the Head gasket or the head itself as the mixture is alot. the oil looks like coffee right now which am afraid of leaving it in the engine to long.

Thanks for all inputs at the moment and keep them coming as they are very helpful.

if the oil is milky... stop running the engine... you WILL cause internal damage

^^ yep

you have a BHG. you need to take the intake off and then the heads off. if you dont feel confident bring it to a shop and it will prob cost you about $800-$1000

milky oil could be a result of a blown head gasket, blown intake gaskets, cracked block or heads and or a leaking timing cover gasket
