thats the heads for you...
a fully ported set of PI, hell, even a fully ported set of TF 4.6 heads, STILL flow worse than TF TW heads for a 302...
great "efficient" design ford... shouldve stuck with pushrod motors and beat the GM guys at their own game...

the new 5.0 4v is more efficient then most n/a builds be it pushrod or modular. They claim its as efficient as some of the best N/A motors that are built.

its 110% VE at peak torque and pretty much 100%VE the rest of the time.
the power comes from the cam timing ability, the LSA can go from like 80* all the way to 160*...
the engine looks like its gonna be an animal, but im curious to see what it sounds like because of the new firing order...
its the same as the old Y-block Ford made back in the day. we had one in my families '57 Mercury Monterey and it sounded a little blatty, kinda 350/LT1-ish...

5psi is gonna make some SERIOUS power on these motors...
makes me ALMOST want to give up the 302 and go with the Coyote V8...
but...
then again, i like the "old school" ness of our motors, the fact that even though its an archaic design, it still makes great power, is VERY cheap to work on, sounds great (i guess the 351W, 5.0, 4.6 firing order and music is going the way of the do-do bird... ), and, lastly, has ONE camshaft with the associated degree-ing BS with it (my friends 98GT was a PITA, i can only imagine a 32V...).
so...
i love pushrods
