Need good exhaust noise at cruising speed

Hello everyone. I have a 95 GT and was wondering how to get a good exhaust tone out of it at cruising speeds. It currently has an O/R H-pipe and Flowmaster 40's with turn downs. I have tried three exhaust setups and none give me a good tone when the throttle is not wide open. I am installing shorty headers and running the pipes out the back again but was wondering if that is all I need to do. Any advice would be great, I am tired of throwing money at it and not getting a desired result. Thanks!

if you want loud go the SLP way -_-

other than that I'm pretty sure Long Tubes would help dramatically

if you want a good exhaust sound....

build a better motor

exhaust sound

the motor is just fine, some people don't kinow quality when it's stepping on there face. no exhaust is going to give you a great sound while cruising. The RPMs are just too low. If stock, the corsas and KRs are as good as it gets.

wtf???

dude, you realize we are discussing a 95 GT right? Quality.. HA.. maybe in 1995!

bottom line is, you will never "have enough sound" until you actually start building the motor. larger heads, new cam, etc etc etc will all add to the sound of the car.

Firetruck.. sound is created by airflow. no matter how you change its path, you arent going to see large results.... But change the quantity of air... and your in for a WORLD of difference!

Thank you all for the replies. I have started to build the motor a little. It has a Trickflow upper and lower intake, just about all the boltons except headers; which are coming soon, and 3:73 gears. The RPMs are pretty high at 60 so I'm thinking the turndowns are the problem. Let me know if anybody has had any good experiences with turndowns at 60.

Keep in mind that the sound of the exhaust while you are in the vehicle is much different from the sound you would hear if it were to drive by you.

Have a friend cruise it down your road with you standing 20 ft off the sidewalk. You'll hear what you want to hear.

L/t's will not make the car louder. Quite the opposite.

Have someone else drive your car and you follow them in another vehicle, you will be amazed how much louder the car is when you're behind it. I had an offroad midpipe and flows, the sound inside was nothing compared to what came out the back.

i like slp loudmouths sound i think the flowmaster setup is junk i got it on my 95 im switching over to slp the quality of the parts is hard to beat with the good sound and if you build the motor like adder said it will only help
