Default 1995 cobra svt upgrades

I'm the new owner of a 1995 cobra svt. It has a 103,000 miles on the 5.0 and runs strong. It has flowmaster exhaust (sounds great) and MSD distributor, other than that it's stock. I'm very much a beginner at being a muscle car owner but I had it going 130 MPH once and it felt like it has more potential.
I'm looking for advice on what steps to take to increase the horsepower. Any responses please remember that I'm a beginner, so keep it simple.
thanks

How much are you wanting to spend. There are lots of things to do with a stock Mustang. Pics of it?

I want to start out with keeping it under $1000. I'm kinda looking for a way to start out and have a game plan doing things one step at a time instead of doing a major project all at once.

Gears, money for bail, lawyer, and fines for 130mph.

Gears would be the best bang for the buck.
