Default Gear reccomendation for auto-x'ing

Just wondering what the forum members would recommend, I'm setting my 88 5.0/5spd up to do autocross this summer (and will have to drive it to and from the track). My rear currently has 3.55's but needs to be rebuild, so if I'm going to change now is the time. I can't decide if I want to stay with 3.55 or should I go up to 3.73 or 4.10? Only engine mods I have are gt40 head/intake and e cam. Looking for recommendations and reasons.

3.55's or 3.73's...

i had 3.73's in my car when i road raced it and did a few Auto-X's, and 2nd gear was nice for the auto-x.

now my IRS has 3.55's and im too lazy to change them out.

plus my .82 OD is gonna need the 3.55's for the highway.

im almost thinking about getting 3.27's actually...

good question. Something we cant anwser because we dont know which track(s) you'll be running, is it a short track with no straights? a 5mile long track with 2-3 straightaways?

Mostly what they do around here is parking lots with cones. There arent any "real" tracks within 4 hrs drive, so if I do go to one it'll be few and far in between. There is an oval track right near my house, about 1/2 mi long, I thought about going there a lot though because it is so close.

Well with the shorter tracks you will want the power to be there so you will want the 3.73 but the 3.55 is a good all around gear for the long and the short.
