3:73's ????

3.73s are a great all around gear. but if you plan on doing more cruising than racing a 3.55 would be a slightly better choice. granted there isnt much difference performance wise but you will have less rpms on the highway. my stang is my spring/summer DD and i use 3.73s but for highway i kinda wish i did the 3.55s but w.e
as for those of you that run heavily modified cars and 4.10s i dont quite understand. i max out 4th around 110ish. how are you running anything faster than a mid 12?

Its defiantly a DD, so Im really not wanting to run around town with the rpm range sitting at 4k all the time, that would take a gas beast to a gas rapist! I do race here and there but she mostly has to get me to work and other functions.

you're only talkin ~200rpm difference between each gear, 355-373-410
i've recently became a fan of 456's maybe even 488's should be a pretty sweet gear with my build

figure car redlines at 5700rpm so:
4th gear = 1:1 ratio...
5700/3.73/785 (245/45R17 rev per mile) x 60 = 117mph
upping the redline to 6500 brings 4th gear to 133mph
and i bet the guys that run the steep gears get their ET's from the 60ft, not the big end of the track (relatively speaking )
