I've had a few moded mustangs in my life and I'm looking for a car to take to the local track. There are a lot of cars out there advertising "modified" but many owners say they bought it that way and think it has aftermarket heads, cam, etc. I can hear a cam and tell most other stuff, but does anyone know how to check for aftermarket heads beyond just valve covers and without removing them, at a glance?

If they aren't aluminum then they are gt-40s at best. Nothin' too hot.

only aftermarket cast iron heads were GT-40 or World Products, weren't they? should be ID marks in the castings.

Trick flow does have some very old school cast iron heads but they are pretty rare anymore.

RHS also makes all of their heads in iron as well as aluminum... But that are clearly stamped RHS.

world products are stamped on the inside not on the outside gt40ps are stamped on the exhaust side and as adder said rhs are clearly stamped
