Default Anyone replaced TFI Module w/o remvng Dist?

So I've done some research on swapping out my TFI Module [my suspected problem of my car not wanting to start when it was already warm once], and my Chiltons manual shows that you have to remove the whole distributor to do it. To ME, it looks like I could probably remove the 2 screws/bolts and slide it down from the trio metal prong(s) and then remove it...? Anyone swapped theirs out w/o removing the whole Distributor? And if so what kind of small bolt is it? Is it a phillips or hex head or something? Thanks!

you don't have to remove the dizzy to pull it off, autozone sells a special ford tfi tool to remove it, or you can find a small deep socket to pull it off

+2 i have the same tool! works great, its cheap and its good to have this tool

mark where the rotor is pointing (sharpie) then just loosen the dizzy clamp nut and twist the dizzy use the tool to take out the 2 screws then push the tfi DOWN! DO NOT pull it towards you. push it towards the block once the screws are out. apply the electro grease stuff then install the new one. then rotate the dizzy back to the mark you made before and then tighten the clamp bolt.

just mark the dizzy then turn it.i used a deep socket that i ground down on a bench grinder so it was thin enough to fit.i think it was a 5.5 mm.(long time ago)
