Default My build (Pics)

I have been building an 86 block to go into my 82 (for the roller cam) and am finally done. You guys were a lot of help so I figured I would post some pics. I just did a stock build with forged assembly. Next plan is an HCI.

Before

After

Some interior pics

So my question, I know I have a strong bottom end now. My birthday is in a week and then graduation. So I will have some money to play with on top of what I have saved. I have heard good things about twisted wedge heads and want to do a HCI. I know that power comes from putting the right parts together but I dont even know where to start. Can anyone point me in the right direction for research? I want the car for mainly street use. track maybe once or twice a year

does your 86 bottom end still have the stock flat top pistons with no valve reliefs in them?? if so twisted wedge heads will be the only real option.

Yes they do. I was curious about that. That also limits my cam options quite a bit too huh?

anyone else? Ideas for a combo then? I dont just want someone to tell me a combo that makes good power and then go for it. I would like to understand what makes some combos better than others? But I also dont want to get something that will give me clearance issues

cams can be designed so the valve events don't cause issues, what makes a good combo are well chosen and tried and true parts, it's the whole combo, ie....matched heads, cam, intake, carb (in your case) and exhaust and gears or better said all supporting mods.

Trick-Flow is a good head to use.
Watch out that you don't get ones that are too big, that's still just a 302....
Stay away from the large intake runners.....

Alright so what would be a good size? I have been trying to find a build that is similiar to what I want to do on here, but I cant seem to find one where flat top pistons are being used. I want to be sure I dont have clearance issues. How can I get a rough idea about what parts will work? I know how to check for ptv with putty but can I get a close idea by lokoing at numbers?

my set up pulls like a SOB and it would be great budget build for a kid in school IMO

then later on go bigger and badder
