anybody running 4.56 gears?
I have 4.10 gears and 28" tall tires, I was wondering if 4.56's would be too much or if anyone has actually gone with that low of a gear..
thanks
edit: its an automatic btw

Judging by your mph, I'd guessing your engine is stock. There is not much point reving the **** out of a stock engine. They are done making power at 4800-5000rpm.
About 3.73 is about as far as I'd take a stock engine. Anything after that and the street driving goes for a dump. Mileage and highway both will suffer.
Why are you running such a tall tire and what is your trap rpm with the 4.10's?

13, obviously the motor is stock. my 60' is around a 2.1 on worn out goodyear eagles, thanks for not answering my question...
jfsram, i dont really care about highway mileage, hence the reason I am contemplating 4.56's, why am I running that tire, because I have 8.5 rims and I felt like putting that size tire on... i havent been to the track with these tires yet but my trap rpm used to be about 5k with the stock tire
I am planning on swapping a 351 in it in the future

4.56 on 28 inch tire + aod will wind the AOD up and you could be tac'ed up at the end of the 1320 and be close to going into if not overdrive, I'd focus more on getting a stall in the car to launch it harder, with a low trap speed, obviously it'll be harder to improve by great lengths with lack of power. also to extend life of the AOD if you're gonna run a 4.56 gear, add an external cooler

the 4:10s you have now are good enough. actually thats the highest id ever go..
do some suspension work or build the motor to make some more power. adding that tall of a gear wont do anything for you

Honestly, WTH are you doing running a 28" tire on a stock car? You need to drop down to a 26" and don't even talk about a 4.56 gear when you are stock.
Get a stall for your AOD and a 26" tire and go from there.
