hurt leg: lightest smoothest clutch for mustang please!
I would like to use the smoothest operating clutch possible with the LEAST effort as my legs are a bit messed up and my back a LOT.
I have a 1992 mustang coupe with the 5.0 220 high output engine and borg-warner T5 transmission (v8 and 5 speed manual) Engine will not make more than 300 crank hp: ISKY cam, GT40P heads |
With your mods, stock is probably fine. If want an upgrade, the Centerforce DF has a pretty easy pedle IMO.

Thanks JD1969.
Here are some manufacturers... dont know if the OEM is available and if so if its the smoothest Centerforce** (CF1, CF2, DF....etc) Fidanza Ford** (OEM [if available]) Hays McLeod** Motorsports, Ford Racing (King Cobra ect) Ram Spec Valeo Zoom (**have heard that these 3 companies have one (which one?) of the "softest") |
Get a hydraulic system. Use any clutch because the effort will be gone.

yes thats a good idea, in fact I have got myself a setup for the 11" truck clutch with an 80's van bellhousing with an old-school adapter originally for a toploader modified to bolt it to a t5 with 87-88 turbocoupe hydraulics but will not be using it for this car. One reason is that it was pretty smooth anyway with a new OEM NOS cable and steel bearing retainer already in place.

Centerforce got back to me and recommended the following:
-Pressure plate CFT360057 (this is the Centerforce II) -Disc 381021 (for use with the stock transmission) -Throwout bearing N1714 anybody have first hand experiance that the II is smoothest compared to the dual friction (DF) and the CF 1? Thanks |
I have the Centerforce DF and it is like butter...awesome clutch. :)

I don't understand why Ford hasn't been using hydraulics set-ups for years now.
|
I use a CF/DF clutch and a steeda quick release quadrant = easy as can be
